Dear Friends:
We are always interested in hearing from community members who would like to support our organization through board membership. Feel free to review the information below. If you are interested, complete the application and follow instructions for submission. We’ll be in touch!
The Sauvie Island Center engages Portland-area children and community members by providing hands-on educational field trips and workshops at our location on beautiful Topaz Farm. Through our education programs, the Center aims to increase food, farm, and environmental literacy of the next generation.
Since our founding in 2005, we have served more than 25,000 children and community members with our programs. More than half of our programming is offered at no charge to children and families living at or below the national threshold for poverty. Field trips, summer camps and workshops are offered on a sliding scale and scholarships are available to those who qualify.
While we don’t expect every board member to take on every task, we need board members who are passionate about using their expertise to support the Sauvie Island Center. We seek board members who can make significant contributions to our organization in the following areas:

We have up to 6 full board meetings per year and expect that each Board member spends an average of five hours per month on SIC related work, including bi-monthly board meetings.
We also ask each Board member to participate in Sauvie Island Center fundraising and to donate a personally significant amount to the organization each year.
If you are interested in joining our board, please review the Board Member Agreement and the job description, then complete the Board Member Application 2023. New board members will attend a board orientation. The date is TBD.
Thank you, and we hope to hear from you soon!
